Going Out with a Bang

I don't know if anyone's even still checking the blogs at this point, but here's my final drawing: Goku from Dragonball, one of the most violent and epic shows of the 90s. And I can easily say this was the most fun drawing for me.

Anyway, it's been fun, everyone. I had a wonderful time working on my drawings these last couple months of school. But as a senior, it's time to move on to bigger and better things... you know how that goes. See you, space cowboys.

GRAVY!

My latest work - it's the Eds from Ed, Edd, n Eddy, another hilarious cartoon. Surprisingly, Double-D gave me the most trouble, despite his fairly simple design. Getting the angles and lengths of his sleeves and arms right was difficult - not to mention that mess of fingers.

I made a lot more progress on this "final" drawing today than I expected, so I think it should be up within the next few days.

Checking In

Hey everyone, I've finished my latest drawing and I should have pics up tonight (I'll give you a couple of hints: cartoon, jawbreakers, scams). Also, I've started on one more picture that I'm going to try to finish before school lets out - the final effort. Look forward to it.

The First Request

And here is my first finished request. It's Mickey Mouse, or should I say, King Mickey, since it's the version of him from Kingdom Hearts. This one wasn't too difficult, but it wasn't easy either. The chain on Mickey's Keyblade was very intricate and was the hardest part. The request was made by Jessica VonCannon, whom I hope enjoys the finished picture!

Depending on when I finish it, my next picture could very well be my last. So look forward to it!

Hey! Listen!

Finished another one. It's Link and Princess Zelda from the Legend of Zelda games. This was another one where I put two preexisting images together. I wanted to make it look like Link's getting ready to defend Zelda.

Zelda was easily the most difficult part about this picture. Her intricate jewelry and royal attire took a bit to get right. The pattern on her dress took the most patience to capture. Overall though, it was a fun drawing. I've also got good news... I've received my first request! I've already made good progress on it and hope to have it finished by the end of the week. That's all for now, guys and gals.

Another Day, Another Drawing

So I've finished the initial sketch of my latest drawing, and I've started darkening. It's one of my more detailed drawings though, so it may take another day or two. Just thought I'd let you guys know what's going on.

Honor Among Thieves

Sorry, I meant to update with this yesterday. Anyway, the drawing is of Sly Cooper from the video game series. This was actually a bit more frustrating than my previous drawings because of the thickness of Sly's outline in the original image. Since my sketch had a thinner outline, I had to compensate in certain areas.

As you can see, I actually drew Sly in a more upright position than the original image (without me really noticing until the end). Even so, I think it looks nice. I'm working on another image right now - hopefully it'll be done by Monday or Tuesday. That's all for now!

Gotta Sketch Em All

He's big, he breathes fire, he flies, and from the 90's to early 2000's most 8 year old boys dreamed of having him as a pet. Yep, it's Charizard, and his Trainer looks like he means business too. What's different about this picture from my previous ones is that I actually spliced 2 preexisting images together for the overall product. From the start I really wanted to put Charizard behind the Pokemon Trainer to create a kind of "protective big brother is watching" vibe. It took a little bit to capture their distinct threatening looks, but I'm happy with it.

I've already started my next drawing, and I should have it done by the week's end.

It's That Time Again

For this next picture I thought I'd do more of a step-by-step creative guide to how I do it. First, I find a preexisting picture as a reference point like this:

Then I start to lightly sketch the image, so when I mess up, it isn't noticeable. Again, I apologize if you can barely see the image:

Finally, the finished product, after I've gone back and darkened the lines and shaded. It's the Warner siblings from Animaniacs, one of my favorite shows as a child. There was actually a good bit more detail in their faces than I expected, but I adapted pretty quickly. I really enjoyed drawing this one.

That's it for now, but I'll try to have something new by Monday or Tuesday. As always, stay golden.

Updates

Finished another drawing, and I'll try to have some pics up tonight. I had a lot of fun with this one, so I hope you guys like it. I've already started my next work and got more ideas buzzing around, so I'll do my best to keep busy. Till then, stay golden my friends.

The First of Many

I apologize in advance for the bad quality, but my camera just doesn't seem to catch these images well. If there is ever a picture of mine you want to see for yourself, please feel free to come talk to me during school. Anyway, here's my first picture. It's Phoenix Wright from the Ace Attorney games, doing his trademark finger-point and objection shout. Normally fingers and hands are my weakest point, but I'm actually pretty happy with how the hand turned out in this one. All in all, I'm very satisfied with it.

Getting Started

Well, I'm Steven and I like drawing. I've always really liked to sketch, but I kind of just stopped for a while around sophomore year. Anyway, I've started to get back into it over the past couple of months, and remembered how much I love it. I found out early on that I'm much better at drawing cartoons and the like than more realistic-styled pictures (plus I have more fun with cartoons). I may occasionally try to sketch something more realistic, but most of the time I'll end up putting a cartoonish spin on it. Well, that's my intro, and I hope you enjoy my drawings!
